St. James's Hospital successfully introduced RFID technology to the hospital campus using ASD as their preferred solution provider. RFID technology, in conjunction with the integrated software and hardware solutions, allows St. James's Hospital to track and trace any entity that moves through the hospital. This project was given the name PATH – Patient and Asset Tracking in Healthcare.
"St. James's Hospital and ASD have made huge progress using RFID technology in healthcare over the past few years. We have cultivated a strong partnership and have worked in close collaboration resulting in achieving significant advances throughout the hospital campus." - Greg Magrane, Project Manager at St. James's Hospital
As part of this project, ASD is delighted to announce the successful integration with Vanderbilt’s ACT access control system in St. James’s Hospital. The RFID module with respect to Patient Wandering in the MISA building was developed between ASD, ACT and SAR Group with staff at St. James’s Hospital creating the functional specification for the project.
Patients are provided with RFID wristbands and their location can be known within the MISA building. By integrating with the access control system, it is now possible to set off an alarm should a vulnerable patient be located in the vicinity of an exit point.
